Goes Green: Are You Coming?
Green is the theme for this session. You don’t
want to be left behind. We are responsible for
our environment. We need to compete with the
world. You want to keep it green and make the
green. Our survival depends on being green and
in the green. The speakers will present
chemical technologies that will keep our
environment clean and green and process
strategies that will keep your company in the
green.
Completely Green Metal Pretreatment
8:30 – 9:15
Chris Berger,
Calvary Industries
This session will discuss a series of novel
metal pretreatments based on the use of
organofunctional silanes. Advantages include
absence of hexavalent chromate or other metals,
no VOCs, ease of application at room temperate,
excellent adhesion and applicability to a wide
range of metal substrates. With no pickling
action of traditional pretreatments, users of
these pretreatments are no longer regulated as
metal treaters as defined in 40 CFR 433.10
Today’s Paint Stripping Technologies
9:15 – 10:00
Suresh Patel,
Chemetall
Today's new paints and environmental
requirements have made paint stripping more
complex and difficult than ever before. A range
of technologies can provide you with paint
stripper options for every stripping application
from floors to equipment to aircraft.
Environmentally friendly strippers that are
especially suited to aluminum and ferrous
surfaces alike are available. We’ll review both
cold and hot tank paint strippers available for
stripping overspray from hooks, masks, and jigs.

Holistic Approach to Process Improvement
10:15 – 11:00
Ken Kaluzny,
Coral Chemical Company
In the realm of manufacturing, raw material and
chemical costs, energy costs, and labor costs
continue to increase. North American
manufacturers need to be competitive with the
low cost of Asian labor and government
subsidies. Quality manufacturing is essential
to differentiate us from foreign manufactured
goods. Environmental health and safety issues
further differentiate us from Asian produced
manufactured goods. A holistic approach to
manufacturing and process improvement is needed
now more than ever. A holistic approach is
essential to maintain a competitive edge,
keeping manufacturing domestic to ensure our
survival as individuals, corporations and as a
nation. Case studies will be used to illustrate
the dynamics of a holistic approach to
manufacturing.
